Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Program Description

The Ilene Beal Charitable Foundation has donated and pledged more than $1,284,000 to Dana-Farber since 2016. The initial grant supported Dr. Wisch’s efforts to connect the community with the best practices and newest research at Dana-Farber through The Ilene Beal & Jeffrey S. Wisch, MD Endowment for Community Cancer Care, and more recently through additional gifts that established The Jeffrey S. Wisch, MD Clinical Investigator Endowment, and current-use fund The Ilene Beal & Jeffrey S. Wisch, MD Clinical Investigator Fund. These funds are dedicated to supporting clinical investigators who are providing care to their patients, while also bringing important observations about patient care back to their lab-based colleagues toward the goal of creating new and better therapies for patients to refine and perfect Dana-Farber’s bench-to-bedside model.

Dr. Wisch was Ilene’s personal oncologist for almost 10 years, and she credited his warmth, professionalism, and skill with maximizing her quality of life during her long struggle with cancer. Ilene wanted to honor Dr. Wisch’s work, and provide him with an opportunity to further develop the quality of care that she received under his leadership.
